Hello Allotmenteers!
The sun has been shining this week – I hope you have had a chance to enjoy the unseasonably warm temperatures. Maybe you have been up at the plot putting in some tatties or peas?
This week’s updates are (thankfully) much shorter than last week’s – yay!
CLEARING & CLEANING PARTY!
Today (Sunday 20th) we have a clearing & cleaning party day up at the allotment. Matt and myself will be up at the plots to help get started on cleaning and clearing. This was one of the biggest suggestions that people had on the surgery and we really hope we can get some good progress made tomorrow.
The sun will be shining – will you be able to come up for even just an hour or two?
We hope to see you there!
10am – 5pm. Please bring your own tools if you have them.

ELECTIONS & AGM
Reminder that there is an AGM scheduled for the 10th of April and it is super important that everyone be present as we will be taking care of a lot of extremely important paperwork for the purchase of the land as well as holding elections.
Plotholders will also need to sign a tenancy agreement for their plots and they will need to be turned in on or before the 10th of April along with rent.
Please note that due to the volume of information that needs to be conveyed and the time it will take to complete elections, that questions on certain topics will be limited to those submitted in advance. This is so we can complete everything we will need to get done within the 1.5 hours we have available at the function space (Olympia Pub). If you have a question you would like addressed, please contact me at: admin@recreationroadallotments.co.uk . If your question cannot be answered in advance of the AGM, it will be added to the agenda. If it can be answered before that time, we will respond directly via e-mail and where appropriate, we may publish the question & answer in a newsletter.
BE A PART OF LEADERSHIP
Having a great leadership team makes all the difference to having a great community. The time commitment for these roles is very manageable and makes a HUGE impact on your experience. We encourage EVERYONE who wants to get involved to consider standing for a place on the committee. Leadership training via Selby AVS will be provided free of charge should you want it (looks great on a CV or to add to your continuing improvement statement when it comes time for a pay rise!)
Many of you said you were interested in a leadership role and the AGM is your time to get involved. Remember that any person who has been at the allotments for at least 1 year and is a member in good standing may stand for a place on the committee and ALL roles on the committee must be elected each year. This means that you may stand for ANY role. You may also stand for more than one role (for example, treasurer and membership manager) but will only be selected for one role (the first role where you receive a majority vote). If you stand for a role and are not elected, you will automatically stand as an advisory member of the committee.
All positions on the committee will generally require a volunteer commitment of approximately 4 hours per month to from Apr-Sept and significantly less from Oct – Mar.

Committee Positions & Order of Voting:
*Chairperson
Vice Chairperson
*Treasurer
*Secretary
Membership Manager
Community Outreach Manager
Advisory Committee Member
If you would like to stand for one or more of these positions, please let the committee know ASAP (email or phone call is fine). You may inform the committee of your desire to be put on the ballot at any time (up to and including the start of the AGM) but it is much easier if you let us know before the AGM if you can.
*These are compulsory positions and must be filled to achieve a quorum.
Lots more to update you on next week as we have been busy bees behind the scenes. Please remember we are always available via e-mail if you have any questions.
Hopefully I will see you today!
Jaye
