We know that time can be limited and your allotment may seem like a big project to add to your busy schedule.
Here is a sample calendar which shows how you can break down the work and keep your plot cultivated without being buried under by work.
Remember that there is nothing wrong with taking the easiest and most sensible route first and improving from there. Simple beds cut into the soil with grass borders and paths are easy and effective. Chipped paths and raised beds require more work.
If you are time pressed, focus on doing the easy method first and then plan those paths and raised beds in stages for the upcoming year.
Remember that for your plot to be considered “tended” it just needs to be kept tidy, weed free and be serving a clear purpose. It doesn’t have to be a perfect show-room of allotment perfection. Just work on “perfecting” one small patch at a time and let the other bits be okay at “good enough” for right now.
Allotmenteering is a marathon and not a sprint. Don’t let stress over needing to have a magazine-worthy plot keep you from growing. Little and often will beat a lot and never every time!
